So one of the girls in the Radolfzell group is a crazy runner. She runs what she calls übermarathons. She loves running and doing physical things. I wish I was more like that. That is not to say that I can't hold my own when it comes to sports but I am certainly not going to run an übermarathon anytime soon. So as part of the Carl-Duisberg Centren experience in Radolfzell, us CBYXers were supposed to organize an Ausflug (trip). This runner girl ends up organizing it and we end up going to Hohenkrähen. In the nearby town of Singen there are two very large hills (one might even call them mountains). They are named Hohentwiel and Hohenkrähen. I believe Hohentwiel is a dead volcano and both of these mountains have Burg (castle) ruins on top of them.
So we had to organize this trip and the girl made the sign up sheet for it. The Americans were the only people that signed up for it. I guess the other kids at CDC thought it was too strenuous. I don't necessarily like being sweaty and tired either but the feeling you get after a climb or a bike ride is really great and I have never regretted a single bike ride or climb I have ever done (no matter how seldom I have done them). So we basically hiked around for hours. The trails were a bit muddy but that was fine because, if you recall from my past post entitled "ebay.de", I had my special "outdoorsy" shoes and I didn't care if they got dirty. It was so much fun and we were so high up. We got to see the countryside of Germany with cows and little farms. And one of the streets we walked down on the way back had apple trees lining it so we picked our own afternoon snack. I love the US but I have experienced moments here in Germany that have been nothing short of magical, and this one is no exception. I feel, these days, that my blog has become more of a picture gallery and less of an open diary. I will try to write more actual words about my experiences but at the same time, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Yes, they have roundabouts in Germany. |

The Zell gang! |
This is Hohentwiel. I had climbed this on a separate occasion. The mountain we climbed this day was called Hohenkrähen. |
